Agaricus campestris : Meadow Mushroom

Close relation to the common store bought button mushroom, Agaricus bisporus, these mushrooms are delicious and can be found in abundance in fields and meadows. ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK this isn't a poisonous mushroom though like Agaricus xanthodermus! MAKE SURE IT ISN'T a very young DESTROYING ANGEL (death will follow)

Where to Find This Mushroom in the Wild?

saprotrophic and grows primarily in open fields and meadows (hence the name) Found more so next to a lineup of coniferous trees in the yard by an open field. We found an abundance of these mushrooms across the front yard and parts of the woods in grassier areas. Beautiful and delicious mushrooms Agaricus campestris are!

Description of the Mushroom

Cap: flat to convex in shape and white to cream in color. the thin layer on cap is easily pealed off and almost feels soft to the touch. 
Stem / Stipe: thicker in the middle and at the base while thinning out near the attachment of the cap. Will have a ring that is fragile and may not be noticeable on all of them based on this mushrooms very short lifespan. 
Gills: on hymenium and very tight together. Pink hue (distinguishable from other mushrooms)
Hymenium: Free
Spore Print: brown to dark tan
Ecology:  saprotrophic and grows primarily in open fields and meadows (hence the name) Found more so next to a lineup of coniferous trees in the yard by an open field. 
Edibility: YES, very good tasting and many ways to consume but MAKE SURE IT IS THIS TYPE OF MUSHROOM

YES, very delicious when fried up or paired with a white meat. However you would eat button mushrooms is likely a similar way to prepare and eat an Agaricus campestris musrhoom.
